Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

Shockwave provides Rapid, Safe and Effective pain relief,

even if other treatment options have failed

Shockwave Therapy is a
NON-INVASIVE way of restarting the natural healing process.

What Can Shockwave Be Used For?

Is it agony when you put you foot to the floor getting out of bed in the morning?

Do you try and dash for the train only to be stopped in your tracks by your stubborn achilles tendon pain?

Are you fed up, stuck in the club house missing out while watching your friends playing golf, hockey or tennis due to your painful shoulder or tennis elbow?

Have you tried numerous treatment options with limited or no success and considering surgery?

Are you worried that you will be stuck with this pain that doesn't seem to go away no matter how much you rest?

Are you struggling with chronic, nagging tendon pain that just won't go away?

Shockwave therapy is clinically proven to provide rapid relief for many problems, even if they have not responded to other treatment options. Common conditions successfully treated include:

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Achilles tendonopathy

  • Tennis elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis)

  • Rotator cuff tendonopathy

  • Patella tendonopathy

  • Hamstring tendonopathy

  • Shin Splints (Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome)

  • Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis

  • Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (Hip pain)

  • Plus many more….

How Does Shockwave Work?

A Shockwave is purely a mechanical wave, not an electric one. Shockwaves are movements of extremely high pressure caused by, for example, an earthquake or a plane breaking the sound barrier. Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT), or Shockwave (as it is more commonly known), is the application of Shockwaves in medicine.

It is clinically proven that Shockwaves applied to injured tissues initiates an acute inflammatory process, much like a fresh injury, from which the body can usually repair itself. Shockwave therapy has been shown to:

  • reduce pain felt by nerve fibres

  • increase blood circulation and metabolism in the affected area

  • reactivation of the healing process by triggering the inflammatory response.

What are the Benefits?

  • There is often an immediate short term improvement, but the full benefits may take up to 12 weeks to be seen

  • It is NON INVASIVE

  • No risk of infection

  • Approved by NICE (the National Institute of Clinical Excellence), the organisation responsible for advising the NHS

  • Approved by most medical insurance providers

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

3 sessions (once a week over 3 weeks) is usually effective, and is based on evidence from clinical research
